What is the IT Unification?
The School of Medicine Information Resources and Technology (IRT) team and the Stanford Health Care Information Technology (IT) team have come together to form Stanford Medicine Technology and Digital Solutions (TDS). The IT Unification gives Stanford Health Care and the School of Medicine an unprecedented opportunity to provide the most advanced information technology services and resources as efficiently and effectively as possible throughout both organizations.
Who leads the combined Stanford Health Care / School of Medicine IT organization?
The newly unified TDS group is led by Eric Yablonka, CIO, and Michael Halaas, deputy CIO. All IT staff members from both Stanford Health Care and the School of Medicine combined to form the TDS organization.
How does the IT Unification impact the services the IT groups currently provide to faculty, staff, patients, and students?
All IT services will continue business as usual throughout the IT Unification. In the near term, School of Medicine employees should continue to contact (650) 725-8000 and Stanford Health Care employees should continue to contact (650) 723-3333 for IT support.
Although it will take time to fully realize this vision, a central goal of the IT Unification process is for all Stanford Medicine stakeholders to ultimately have one unified IT team with a single point of contact for IT support. Together, the TDS team is working to enhance IT services for faculty, staff, and students with more rapid response times to support inquiries, expanded shared tech bars, and more.
The TDS team also looks forward to new opportunities to support clinical and research teams with more seamless data and research sharing across SHC and the School of Medicine, unified communication and collaboration services, broader analytics capabilities, shared imaging between the school and hospital system, and many other collaboration scenarios.
How will the IT Unification impact Stanford Children’s Health?
While the unification does not include Stanford Children’s Health/Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford, it will allow both Stanford Health Care and the School of Medicine to partner with Stanford Children’s Health in a more streamlined and efficient way – enhancing research, patient care, and education collaborations for patients, faculty, and staff.
What is the timeline for the IT Unification?
It will take time for the IT teams to fully integrate all operations. The TDS leadership team is committed to keeping the organization updated frequently on the IT Unification timeline and key milestones and will be meeting with each stakeholder group before any changes are made that impact their teams.
Will email addresses change?
We will continue to operate business as usual in the near term with the same email addresses. Email unification will be considered by the TDS team as part of the overall IT Unification effort, and staff will be updated on any potential changes as soon as a decision has been made.
Will my IT Support number and websites change?
All IT services will continue business as usual throughout the IT Unification. In the near term, School of Medicine employees should continue to contact (650) 725-8000 and Stanford Health Care employees should continue to contact (650) 723-3333 for IT support.
Will my login and passwords change?
We will continue to operate business as usual in the near term with the same login processes. Simplifying and streamlining system access across the University and Stanford Health Care environments will be considered by the TDS team as part of the overall IT Unification effort, and staff will be updated on any potential changes as soon as a decision has been made.
How will this impact the opening of 500P?
The 500P opening is scheduled to continue as planned and will not be impacted by the IT Unification. IT teams from the School of Medicine and Stanford Health Care have been collaborating on technology plans and implementation for the new hospital for years. The IT Unification is a natural outgrowth of that and other ongoing partnerships.
